What Bearings Seals Brakes and Tires to Use for 4400 lb Axels on a 2004 Airstream 30 Feet Long
Question:
If there are not bearings and seals matching up for a 4400 lb axles should I go with 3500 or 5200 lbs brakes, bearings and seals. Trailer runs with about 10,000 lbs total weight. Dual axles. I have had problems with tires and brakes since brakes job. Seal is National # 442109 and inner bearing is KOYO HI-CAP 25580, I-X, outer bearing is KOYO HI-CAP LM67848 U-X. Tralier is a 2004 Airstream 30 ft. with slide out. Hope you can help in Texas

I did a little research and found that the National Seal, 442109, has an inner diameter of 2.25 inches and an outer diameter of 3.376 inches. We carry two seals that can be used as a replacement for this seal. If your hubs have greased bearings you should use the TruRyde Grease Seal, item # GS-2250DL, or the TruRyde Grease Seals, item # RG06-070 (pair), which is a double lip seal and if your hubs have oil bath bearings, use Oil seal # 10-63.
Your inner bearing should match up with the TruRyde Trailer Bearing, # 25580, which has an inner diameter of 2.125 inches. This bearing matches to the # 25520 race.
Your Outer bearing, LM67848, I could not find a match for. I believe it may be the TruRyde Trailer Bearing, # LM67048, which has an inner diameter of 1.25 inches. This bearing matches to the # LM67010 race.
The above mentioned bearings match the spindle that you referenced, and the TruRyde Bearing Kit, item # BK3-300 is the complete kit with bearings races and double lip seal.
For brakes you probably have 12 by 2 inch brakes. Measure the diameter of the inside of your hub and the width of the brake pads on your trailer to be sure. If you have the 12 by 2 inch brake assemblies on your trailer, I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit item # AKEBRK-6 (includes left and right hand assemblies) if your brake mounting flange bolt pattern is a 5 bolt pattern. If your brake mounting flange is a different bolt pattern or your brakes are a different size let me know and I can recommend the correct parts.
If you just need brake shoes and you have 12 by 2 inch brake assemblies, the 12" X 2" Electric Trailer Brake Shoe / Lining (one wheel), item # BP04-150, will be the most likely parts you will need.
These items are properly sized for axles rated for 5000 pounds so you should not have problems with the brakes. For the tires you should be sure and run ST (special trailer) tires because they are built specifically for the trailer load. Be sure the load rating is appropriate for the total trailer weight loaded and ready to travel. Run the trailer tires at the recommended maximum load air pressure for best results. The Karrier ST225/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D, item # AM10256 would be a good choice if the tire size is correct for your trailer.
I have linked some information articles and a video for you to review also.
