Comparing Air Bag & Jounce Spring Kits for 2014 Ford F-250 Diesel Crew Cab Towing 5th Wheel
Question:
I own a 2014 F250 diesel crew cab. I pull a 10500 pound 5th wheel with a hitch weight of 2000 lbs. is the Timbren TFR250SDG sufficient to keep my truck more level than the standard suspension sags about 4 inches when connected or do I need something more like the Firestone air bag suspension you also sell?

Between air bag kits and jounce springs like the Timbren # TFR250SDG, which fits both 2WD and 4WD versions of your 2014 Ford F-250, the Timbrens offer the advantages of lower cost, easier installation and zero maintenance. You give up the adjustability of air bags but you get to keep your normal ride quality when the truck is not loaded with trailer pin weight.
Timbrens offer progressive resistance, so when you're not hauling or towing they will not alter your ride, but when you do need the load support for trailer pin weight or cargo in the bed then they kick in. They also work independently; to have air bags operate independently you need to inflate them individually or use a dual path compressor like # F2168.
Air bags MUST always be kept inflated to avoid damage (5 psi is the minimum pressure they must have at all times). Air springs can also develop leaks. Timbrens and other jounce spring products avoid this down side.
