The Swagman Fork Down Roof Mounted Bike Carrier # S64710 has a front mounting plate that is just under 8-inches wide. You can measure the available space on your OEM crossbars to calculate how many of these racks can be fitted to the rack at one time. Often you can gain more usable space by alternating the orientation of adjacent racks; in other words, face one forward, the next one backward, etc. The rack will mount to your crossbars as long as they are not wider than 3-inches.
This will also help with the spacing for the bikes' handlebars which will fit with each other best when the racks are installed in this alternating fashion.
Another thing to keep in mind is the roof's weight limit. Check you manual to confirm how much weight the 5's roof can handle. You'll want to total the combined weight of the Swagman carriers, about 6-1/2-lbs each, with the weight of all the bikes to ensure you do not exceed the vehicle capacity.
Please refer to the linked installation video showing a Mazda 5.
