The Curt Cargo Carrier # C18100 will work on the front of your 2011 Nissan Xterra as long as there is enough clearance coming from your hitch. From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier when it's folded up is 4-1/2 inches and when it's folded down is 10-3/4 inches. As long as those numbers are enough to clear the front of the Xterra you'll be fine.
You also want to make sure the cargo isn't blocking your headlights or obstructing the air flow into your engine through the grill.
If you don't already have a front mount hitch, the Curt # 31514 is the compatible hitch.
