How To Determine if Brophy Hitch Extender RP11004 Would have Enough Weight Capacity for Towing
Question:
I have a F-150 with a short bed 5.5 foot, and a Forest River Flagstaff Shamrock 19 hybrid lite. I would like to tow with the Tail Gate down. Will this work for me? Thanks

The hitch extender part # ST18 is 18 inches long and has a 3,500 lb trailer weight capacity. As long as your trailer weighs less than that the extender will work just fine. But you also need to determine the weight capacity of your trailer hitch like I mentioned and then determine that 33-1/3 percent of that would be still above the capacity of the extender.
That being said the limiting factor is the capacity of your hitch. Using this extension will reduce your hitch's weight capacity by 33-1/3 percent due to its length and the leverage added by it.
