Installation of 5th Wheel Adapters & Compatibility w/Trailer Warranty on a 2016 Ford F-350 w/Prep
Question:
Good morning, Im looking at 5th wheel trailers and the trucks needed to pull them. In my research Im looking at hitch options. I saw an Andersen product - aluminum ultimate 5th wheel connection - which seemed like a cool way to go. Then I spoke with a salesperson from Lazydays Rv and she said that anything other than a typical 5th wheel hitch voids out the warranty from the trailer manufacturer. Can you verify if this is true. If so then I can rule out the Anderson and look at BandW companion or similar hitches. Im still learning all the lingo, weights, etc. Thank you.

The best solution for towing a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch is to replace the pin box on the trailer with a Reese Goose Box like the # RP94716-61301. These are replacement pin boxes that bolt on to your trailer just like your pin box and they offer the best handling and safest operation. A Goose Box is the only type of adapter that does not add stress to your trailer's frame. All other adapters, including the Andersen and the Ranch, do increase the stress on your trailer's frame and may void its warranty. It is a good idea to first check with your trailer manufacturer for their policy on using adapters.
The second safest and most secure solution is the adapters like the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300, you mentioned. These don't require modification of the trailer and can reduce the stress that is exerted in either the trailer frame or hitch. This provides a good solution for the tow-er that frequently switches between trailer types.
Next would come the adapter like the Andersen and lastly the adapters that bolt to the king pin plate. Check out the Help Article I've attached for more details.
I have linked the above mentioned products as well as all the 5th wheels and adapters confirmed to fit your OEM factory installed rail kit on the 2016 Ford F-350 8 ft bed for your viewing and purchasing convenience.
