Yes, If your 2008 Mercury Mariner has the factory cross bars that run from side to side on the top of the vehicle, the SportRack J-Stacker Kayak Carrier - Roof Mount, item # SR5511, will work on your vehicle. The J-Stacker will work on factory cross bars up to 3-1/2 inches diameter.

If your vehicle has factory side rails that run front to back, without cross bars, you will need cross bars. I would recommend the Thule Roof Rack For 2008 Mariner by Mercury, which consists of part # TH712100 and # TH710401. You can then mount the J-Stacker to these cross bars.

If your vehicle does not have cross bars or side rails, you will need the Yakima Roof Rack, which consists of part # Y00408 , # Y28TR, # Y03536, # Y06119, and # Y06148. These items will provide cross bars on the roof of your vehicle to attach the J-Stacker Kayak carrier to.
