Recommended Strait-Line Weight Distribution System With Sway Control For 2016 Ford F-150

Question:

I am interested in the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW. Will this product work for a 30foot travel trailer with a dry weight of 5800 lbs pulled by a 2016 F150 crew cab? Do I need the 1200 bars or smaller bars?

There are a couple things that are most important when choosing a weight distribution system. First you want to make sure the system is big enough to handle the trailer you are towing for obvious reasons. Second, you want to know your total tongue weight which is the tongue weight of your fully-loaded-ready-to-tow trailer added to the weight of any cargo you are carrying behind the rear axle of your truck. Ideally you want the total tongue weight to fall in the middle of the tongue weight range of the WD system.

If your total tongue weight is near the middle of the 600-1200 lb rage of the Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control System, part # RP66074, then this system will work great for you. You do want to make sure your truck has the towing capacity for your trailer.

for a system with this weight range I recommend part # RP66084. This is the same system as part # RP66074 but it includes the weight distribution shank.

The adjustable shank and hitch ball are not included with part # RP66074 and need to be purchased separately. For a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19286. If you need a 2-inch hitch ball I recommend part # A-90. For an adjustable shank I recommend part # RP54970.
