Comparing of the Atwood and Bulldog Electric Trailer Jacks
Question:
I have a Heartlands Northtrail 28 footer, roughly 6000 lbs loaded and I use the Equal-I-zer brand wt. dist. hitch. Comparing the Atwood 3000 lb unit and the Bulldog 4000 lb unit, which one do you recommend? both will work from a weight standpoint-helping me to lift the vehicle to clamp in the weight bars. It looks like the Bulldog has 3 more lift and a built in level. Otherwise, the features seem comparable. Dependability? Speed of lifting? Thanks for any help you can offer.

The Atwood Power Trailer Jack with Cover and Foot has a lift speed of 15 inches per minute. It also has a lift range of 14 inches. This jack has been around for a very long time and is very dependable. The wiring on this jack is slightly larger than the wiring on the Bulldog model. It is rated for 3,000 pounds.
The Bulldog Powered-Drive Trailer Jack - Drop Leg - A-Frame - 14 inch Lift - 4,000 lbs, # BD500199, has a lift range of 14 inches, the only other added feature that this jack has is the built in level to help get the RV level when setting up. The jack has a high rating and we have not had complaints about its performance.
Since you are will be using the jack to help hook up your weight distribution system I would probably opt for the higher capacity Bulldog jack. Otherwise both jacks are quality products.
