Recommended Wiring Harness and Trailer Hitch for 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

Hello, I am looking to buy a hitch for my Jeep. I found the receiver and read the reviews. I am ready to order, however, For the wiring, do you sell this? What one do I use? I read some reviews on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee saying you have to go to the dealership. Is this true with the 2013 as well? Thanks for your help.

We do offer custom fit trailer wiring harnesses for your 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since you are also looking for a trailer hitch, such as the Curt Class III Receiver # C13182 that you referenced, it is likely that your Grand Cherokee does not have a factory towing package installed. In this case, I recommend the Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118425. This wiring harness installs in line with the factory wiring behind the vehicle's taillight housings, and it will not require you to go to your Jeep dealership.

The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13182 is a great hitch choice for your Grand Cherokee, as long as you do not have an SRT-8 model. The Class III hitch with 2 inch receiver will allow you a wide variety of hitch accessory options and a good towing capacity. I've attached an installation video of the # 118425 wiring harness and the # C13182 trailer hitch for you.

If your Grand Cherokee does have a factory towing package, I recommend a connector like the Tow Ready Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connector # 74682. If after installing the connector you do not have a fully functioning 7-Way connector, then you would need to see the Jeep dealer for a relay to complete the towing package.
