Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2016 Toyota Highlander
Question:
My question is in regards these two items part # 56042 and part # 118449 for my 2016 Toyota Highlander LE AWD V6 . My question is which harness will I need since Toyota made all 2016 Highlanders come with a standard towing package on all V6 modelsHeavy-duty radiator with engine oil cooler, 200-watt fan coupling, supplemental transmission oil cooler and 150-amp alternator, V6 Only I am not sure which one to order along with my Curt trailer hitch. Please advise and thank you

If your 2016 Toyota Highlander came with the factory tow package, then you would just need # 56042. You can test to see if the connector this plugs into has power using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. Have someone sit in the cab and go through the lighting functions while you test the factory connector where # 56042 plugs into (see instructions). If it has power, then 56042 is all you need.
If it does not have power, then you would need the alternate harness # C56217.
