Availability of a Pro Series Folding Cargo Carrier and Measuring for Clearance on a Buick Enclave
Question:
Can I adapt the 32x48 pro series solo steel cargo carrier to be a folding carrier? Also, how do I know if it will work with my Buick Enclave?

In order to determine if the Pro Series Solo Steel Cargo Carrier, # PS1040100, or any carrier will fit on your Buick Enclave, measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the distance required to clear the rear bumper. If any part on the rear of the vehicle extends further than the bumper, measure out to the distance required to clear that part.
Next, check the measurements on the product page. You are looking for the measurement that says, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest edge of the carrier is X inches. For folding carriers, it will also have the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier when folded. The PS1040100 carrier measures 12 inches. There are no parts, such as a replacement shank, that will allow the Pro Series cargo carriers to become folding carriers.
One of the folding carriers with the best clearance is the Folding Cargo Carrier, # 6502. It measures 13 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier when down, and 7-1/2 inches when folded up. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review of this carrier below.
