Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2016 Kia Sorento

Question:

Im looking at purchasing a travel trailer with a tongue weight of 377lbs and an UVW of 3097. Is it possible to tow this trailer? Is there a weight distribution hitch for my Sorento? Ive heard that they arent good for unibody vehicles. Im quite sure Ill be under the 3500lb towing capacity. Im just worried about the tongue weight.

Not every vehicle is rated for weight distribution systems. It doesn't look like your 2016 Kia Sorento is rated for it either. All of the hitches we carry for your vehicle state that a WD system cannot be used with it.

That being said the Draw Tite hitch part # 75908 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and has towing capacities that are higher than the weight of your trailer. This hitch has a 5,000 lb total trailer weight capacity and a 500 lb tongue weight capacity. As long as your owners manual states that your vehicle has enough capacity as well this would allow you to tow the trailer.

Since you wanted to do some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.

For trailer wiring you would then want the Curt harness part # C56332 which is a confirmed fit.
