Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport with Curt Hitch Installed
Question:
I have a C11286 hitch installed on my 2013 Subaru Impreza Sport not WRX. I like the price and weight of this cargo carrier C18145 but would like to know, given the lack of any tounge riser, how it will affect the ability to handle speed bumps, etc. Also, any insight as to how tall a basket could sit on this cargo carrier and still allow the hatch to freely open? Thanks

When we installed the Curt Hitch part # C11286 on a 2013 Subaru Impreza like yours we found that after the install was complete there was 10 inches from the top of the hitch opening down to the ground. That's not a whole lot of ground clearance, and the part # C18145 does not have a rise in the shank like you mentioned. Realistically the bottom of the carrier would sit around 9 inches from the ground.
You would have to consider the elevation changes and curbs you would need to climb in your vehicle to know if this would have enough rise to not cause ground clearance issues. The height of the rails are 6 inches. That should be short enough to easily allow your rear hatch to open since the bumper on your vehicle is pretty tall.
