Does 2004 Ford F-250 have to have Separate 4- and 7-Way Connectors to Use # HM40975

Question:

my 04 f250 super duty has a factory 7 and 4 pin connector which are separate . the 4 pin pigtails off the 7 pin. when installing this connector there is no spot for the 4 pin connector. i understand that on the new connector the 4 pin gets its power from the 7 pin. do i just zip tie the factory 4 pin out of the way and just use the 7 pin or do i need a new harness.

Like you said the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975 gets the 4-Way power from the same wiring as the 7-Way. All of the lighting functions for the 7- and 4-Way are already contained in the wiring that plugs into connector # HM40975. The 4-Way in your picture will not be used since # HM40975 has a built-in 4-Way.

I do recommend taping up the old 4-Way and stowing it out of the way so nothing can get to it and cause a short.
