New Suspension Components for 1971 StarCraft Galaxy 8 Pop-Up Camper
Question:
I have a 1971 Starcraft Galaxy 8 pop up and would like to replace the old springs. It weighs 1670 lbs. The length of the existing springs is 26 in. I found a spring on your site rated at 2000 lbs and 26 in in length but its width is 1 3/4 in. Mine appear to be 1 7/8, possibly 2 in. Can I make a 1 3/4 in spring work with some sort of spacer? Thanks.

I wouldn't recommend using spacers. Your best bet would be to use the replacement springs along with replacement sprig hangers of the same height as those you're replacing. To get the correct length of leaf spring, make sure you measured the eye to eye distance while the trailer was up on jacks with the axle hanging freely. The hangers would need to be welded into place, but it's a pretty simple job.
