Solution to Allow Titan Surge Brake Actuator to Back Up without Locking Up Brakes
Question:
Brakes lock up in reverse. Also appears to bounce back and forth on actuator just by putting truck in coward or reverse. Brakes seem to drag alittle while going down the street because passenger side was warmer than drivers side. Truck felt like it was in a bind a lot of the time I was thinking about buying a new shock and soloniod..

Surge brakes will lock up when in reverse if the trailer does not have a reverse lock out or free-backing assemblies installed. To fix that you would want the reverse lock out solenoid part # T4748800. This blocks the actuator from building hydraulic pressure when in reverse so that you can back up. I attached an install video for this product for you to check out as well.
The one assembly being hot could be a matter of that assembly just being out of adjustment. Use the star wheel on the assembly to set just a light drag when you turn the wheel by hand.
Check out the video (see link). Beginning at the 4:23 mark, our installer shows how to adjust your trailer brakes.
