What is the outside diameter of this bar? Is it 2 1/2 inch , looking to use in a 2 1/2inch receiver as an extension. Thanks

The outer tubing of the Curt part # C49360 is 2-1/2 inches by 2-1/2 inches. This would fit well in a 2-1/2 inch hitch, but this is not the intention of this product so I can't really recommend you use it like that.
Instead you would want the part # RP45292 which is designed for use as a hitch extender for a 2-1/2 inch hitch.
