Should a Transmission Cooler be Used on a 2016 Honda Accord

Question:

Hi, I own a 2016 Honda Accord Touring with a V6 engine and a KA6AT 6 speed automatic transmission. I want to install one of your Derale coolers to prolong the transmission life. Do I need anything else to install the cooler like a thermostat? Im asking because in this model, there is no cooler in the radiator, instead there is a warmer and im concerned that the lower transmission fluid temperature might cause a problem with the computer. Thanks,

For your 2016 Honda Accord a transmission cooler would be a great choice that will prolong the life of the transmission as long as you don't have a CVT transmission. Heat is the number 1 killer of automatic transmissions and there would be no incentive to keep it warmer.

I looked up the warmers that are available for the 2016 Accord and everything I could find for them is for the CVT style transmissions. If yours has a standard non-CVT then a cooler would be recommended like the part # D13502. If you have a CVT then I would not recommend a cooler.
