Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a Trailer with 750 lbs of Tongue Weight

Question:

The trailer Im looking to buy has a 750lb young weight and a gross weight loaded of 9500lbs. Should I purchase a WD/Sway control solution that is rated at just a little better than those numbers like the Reese 66087 or is bigger and beefier better?

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

For your loaded tongue weight figure of 750 lbs the part # RP66087 would technically work as it has a tongue weight range of 400-800 lbs but you would be right at the top of it's range. So if there was any chance you would end up with more tongue weight it wouldn't be an ideal solution for you.

A better option would most likely be the part # RP66088 which has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs and has the same dual cam sway control that fights sway before it starts. I attached an install video for this kit as well.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
