I have seen 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, and 13 pin trailer connectors but never an 8 pin connector. Are you sure it is an 8 pin and not the regular blade style 7-Way such as # H20044? If it does not look like this please send me a picture of the trailer's connector so I can determine what it is.
If it is indeed a regular RV style 7-Way then we do have the parts to add a mating 7-Way to your 2005 Ford E-150 van. You will need # ETBC7 to add the 7-Way, retain the 4-Way, and have the wiring needed to install a brake controller. For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
I have also included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
