The brake controller I recommend for you is the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. This is a top of the line proportional brake controller that offers a customizable LCD screen, storable settings, 3 boost levels, battery protection, and will perform continuous diagnostics.

Unlike more traditional time-delayed controllers that have a pause before the brakes are activated, this proportional controller will activate the trailer's brakes immediately. The P3 is compatible with trailers that have up to 4 axles/8 brake assemblies and will also work with both electric and electric-over-hydraulic brakes.

Another great controller is the Prodigy P2 # 90885. This controller has many of the great features of the P3, but it has a digital, blue LED display instead of the LCD screen.

If your 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee came with a factory 7-Way trailer connector, you can use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # TK93VR to install the brake controller. This custom fit installation harness will plug into a gray plug under the dash, to the left side of the steering column.
