Recommended Spacing Between Tool Box & 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

How much clearance, if any, must be maintained between hitch and a toolbox mounted in front of it?

There is no absolute rule for spacing between the forward side of a 5th wheel hitch and a tool box mounted between it and the cab, but I would say 6 inches would be an appropriate minimum in most instances. We do have recommended clearance distances between the various points of the trailer and truck that you can see in the linked diagram. You want to ensure the front loft of the trailer can clear the top of the tool box.

This really just depends on your particular setup. The distance between your trailer overhang and current toolbox, along with the position of the hitch in relation to the tool box will dictate whether you will have any interference when making sharp turns. All truck and trailer setups will be different in this regard so I can't say for sure whether or not you will have any issues. If you can give me some of the above measurements I should be able to give you a more specific answer.
