You can use a brake controller on a 2006 Pontiac Montana SV6 AWD. The 2006 model was renamed the Montana SV6.

To install a brake controller on your vehicle you will need a 4-way at the rear of the vehicle and then use the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7, along with the brake controller.

To install a 4-way trailer connector at the the rear of your vehicle you will use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118396. This harness will plug into the back of your taillights and give you a 4-way connector on the rear. I am sending a link to the installation instructions on the T-One wiring harness. Also, the video link you have referenced will show that # 118396 wire harness being installed on a 2006 Pontiac Montana.

The # ETBC7 installation kit will include an adapter that will plug into your new 4-way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle. The adapter will give you both a 4-way and 7-way trailer connector at the rear of your vehicle and the four remaining wires will be hardwired to the vehicle.

We have detailed instructions and wiring diagrams to help you install the Brake Controller 7 & 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7, to your vehicle. I am sending a link to the instructions on installing a brake controller and the # ETBC7 installation kit.

Also, I am sending a good two part video of a brake controller and the # ETBC7 installation kit being installed on a 2008 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle is different but the wiring principle is the same.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, # 90885. The Prodigy 2 brake controller is our best selling model. It can be mounted in a 360 degree vertical range and will level itself automatically. It is a proportional brake controller which means that the brakes are applied to the trailer at the same time and same strength as the brakes on your truck.

I am sending a link to the instructions on the Prodigy P2 brake controller.
