Is a Flint Hill Goods 29x49 Cargo Carrier with ramp Compatible with 2016 VW Tiguan
Question:
I have a 2016 VW Tiguan. We want to purchase a wheelchair carrier FHG69ZR and the hitch is 1-1/4 inches. Will an adapter from 1 1/4 to 2 inch hitch be able to hold a 500 lb. carrier? The video says it will only carry 1/2 the weight. Is there a different adapter we can use?

I may have a solution for you, however there is not an adapter that will work for you without reducing the weight capacity. As you said any adapter will reduce the weight capacity by 50 percent making it not enough.
My best recommendation would be to check the tongue weight capacity of your 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan in the owner's manual if you haven't already. You need to make sure it can handle what is necessary because that will determine the maximum amount your vehicle will carry unless you are towing a trailer.
If your vehicle can handle the tongue weight, your best option is to replace your 1 1/4" Hitch Receiver with one like our Curt Class III 2" Receiver Hitch # C13133 so that your Tiguan will be able to handle the amount of weight you will be carrying. With a Class III hitch you will be able to use the Flint Hill Goods 29" x 49" Carrier w/ 60" Ramp - 2" Hitch - 500 lbs # FHG69ZR without an adapter and retain the full 350lbs. tongue weight capacity.
