Draw-Tite model # 24857 fits 2007 - 2010 BMW 3 Series 328i and 328xi sedans. To install this hitch, the first step is to remove the driver and passenger side appearance panels.
To complete the installation, the passenger side panel is reinstalled, but the hitch would come in contact with the driver side appearance panel, if re-installed. You would have two options at this point in the install--you could either leave the driver side panel off completely, or you could trim a 2-1/2 inch section to allow the panel to fit around the hitch. If you trim the panel, it can be re-installed.
As for the wiring, most of the vehicles that use hitch # 24857 would use a hardwire kit # C59236. This should not interfere with the normal bulb functions on the vehicle, and it requires a power wire be run to the battery, which would protect your BMW circuitry.
