Why Would a 2016 Ram Promaster City Want to Install a 2 inch Trailer Hitch Over Smaller Size
Question:
This vehicle can only tow 2000 lbs, isnt a classIII hitch for this overkill? Is there a 7 way wiring kit for this?

Helpful Expert Reply:
2 inch hitches are preferred when available because typically they have higher capacities like you mentioned, but also because more hitch accessories are made for this hitch size than larger or smaller ones so when available this is the hitch size to use.
The part # C13215 is a confirmed fit for your 2016 Ram ProMaster City so it would be a great choice regardless of if it has more capacity than needed.
For trailer wiring you would need to start with the part # C56270 for a 4-way.
Now if your trailer does not have brakes all you would need is the part # 37185 as an adapter to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.
If you do have trailer brakes you would need the # ETBC7 instead of the # 37185 and a brake controller. This kit comes with everything needed to wire up the 7-way and install a brake controller.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
