Replacement Slipper Springs for a 2,100 lb Trailer

Question:

My boat trailer currently has 2inch axle with a 4 leaf slipper spring 1 3/4inch wide that needs replaced. This is my first time replacing them so I want to make sure I get all the right parts. After measuring, the SP-040275 looks like it is a match. Will the CE23103 u-bolt kit be the right choice or do I need to use the SP01-160 u-bolts with the 117594 plate. If I use the latter, do the u-bolts need lock washers? As another note, my trailer rating is only for 2100lbs. Is this spring overkill for the job or is it best to replace what has been used to ensure everything fits back together nicely with the fenders/tires? Thanks in advanced for the help!

The most important factor in picking out a new leaf spring for a trailer is to match the capacity needed. Going with a 3,500 lb spring for a 2,100 lb trailer is going to give you a very harsh ride.

For a spring similar to the # WIG4 that is better rated for your trailer we have the # SP-039275 which is for a 3,000 lb axle or part # e29SR for a 2,000 lb axle. If you need all 2,100 lbs of your trailer's capacity you would have to go with the # SP-039275.

If you have a 2 inch square axle like it sounds like you do the part # CE23103 would be the u-bolt kit you would want. This comes with lock washers.
