What is the Difference Between Taskmaster Provider and Contender Trailer Tires

Question:

Hi, Looking for new tires on my 5th wheel Mountaineer toyhauler. Max load is 14200, I have two axles and the tongue weight is about 2200#. Currently running a Goodyear marathons but had a tread separation and subsequent rapid loss of pressure tire was manufactured in 2011. Fortunately my TPMS alerted me and I got it slowed down without damage to anything. I noticed you have a taskmaster 235/80-16 and a contender tire in the same size. Both seem to have 3520 weight rating. There is a pretty good difference in price. Do they both have the same speed rating? Which would you recommend? I have heard you should replace these tires every five years. So I doubt I would wear them out before they age out, so do I spend the extra money on the taskmaster? thanks

There is a quality difference between the Taskmaster Provider tire # TTWTRTM2358016E and the Taskmaster Contender, # C23516E. The biggest difference is in the tread. The Provider just has better tread. The Contender was meant as a less expensive radial alternative to a bias ply tire. If it were me, I would go with the Provider # TTWTRTM2358016E because of the higher quality and tread difference.

I have also included a link to a video review of the Provider as well as a link to our help article on trailer tires for you.
