Recommended 2-Bike Hitch Rack for Beach Cruisers Carried on 2015 Lexus RX 350

Question:

I am interested in purchasing a bike rack to go on a 2015 Lexus RX350 equipped with a Curt Trailer Hitch C13143. Bikes are man and woman frame beach cruisers with fenders and front caliper brakes weighting about 45 to 50 lbs each. I would like a bike rack that would carry 2 bikes but am open to a rack that could carry more. I want to minimize rattle and play in the hitch-rack system. Some of the features I am looking for include a hitch lock, fold up, swing away, and if available bike lock not critical. My initial research leads me toward a platform rack no need to add a women bike adaptor bar and the trunk can be opened with the bike loaded using the swing away feature such as the Kuat NV, Thule T2 Pro, or Yakima Hold-up. However, theses racks do not seem to accommodate the presence of fenders on the bikes. Is that correct? If so, could you please help me find a racks that would work with my requirements? Thank you very much. Best regards.

We can help you select the right 2-inch hitch bike rack for transporting beach cruisers on your 2015 Lexus RX 350. Since your bikes both have fenders and front brake calipers you will need a rack that works with those features. The racks you referenced are great, but for your bikes we have a better solution.

For a platform style rack that include locks for the rack itself and your bikes, tilts away from the car for better access, includes an anti-rattle hitch pin for stability and that works with heavier bikes like yours, I recommend the Thule EasyFold 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH903202. This rack will not require a bike adapter bar for the woman's bike.

The Easy Fold features lightweight (45-lb) aluminum and ABS plastic construction which means no rust - ever - and it is protected by Thule's limited lifetime warranty.
