How to Install an Electric Over Hydraulic Disk Brake Actuator on a 2010 Ford F-350
Question:
I have a 2010 Ford F350 and I plan on installing a Dexter disc brake actuator on my trailer. Do I need to install an aftermarket brake controller on the truck or will the OEM integrated controller work?

I contacted my tech contact at Dexter and the Dexter Disc Brake Actuator # K71-651 will not work with the 2010 Ford OEM Brake Controller. The compatibility with Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuators with Ford OEM Brake Controllers during this time was sporadic.
Knowing this, I do not recommend buying the Dexter Actuator for your vehicle. I recommend buying the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes # HBA16 and the HydraStar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Adapter for Ford Brake Controllers # HBA-CAM. This adapter will allow your current OEM brake controller to work with the HydraStar Actuator without having to get a new aftermarket brake controller. Unfortunately Dexter does not make an adapter for their Electric Over Hydraulic Actuators but HydraStar is a great actuator manufacturer.
I attached review videos for the HydraStar Adapter and Actuator you may want to check out.
