Trailer Hitch for Travel Trailer that Has Thin Square Bumper not Rated for Hitch

Question:

Hi, Im planning to install an aluminum cargo carrier in the back of my travel trailer to carry maybe 100-150 pounds of stock in it. I was looking at the Curt E-100 Hitch to install it, but I was told that the 1/16 gauge stock RV bumper was not tough enough to do the job and it would crack and tear. Have you experienced people who use this Hitch on a stock RV bumper to carry a cargo rack? I also have a 14foot spare tire on the bumper.

For a bumper as thin as yours I would not recommend the # E-100 for installing a hitch. Instead I would recommend going with a frame mount like the part # 13703 that will fit your trailer as long as your outside to outside frame dimensions are between 22 and 72 inches.

Since the goal is to carry a cargo carrier you would need to use the stabilizer strap part # 18050 as well per Curt's warranty requirements.
