Bet Trailer Tire in Size LT235/85R16

Question:

I tow a fifth wheel, 14400 max gvw tends to be a little under loaded. Current tires are lt235/85r16 load range G, about 6 years old. Tires look ok but considering replacement due to age. We are planning a 6 k mi trip out west and will see grades and interstate speeds. Mfg recommends a load range E. Lt G tires are expensive but i hate to replace with lesser rated tires. Should i replace the tires due to age, and what would i be gaining from Lt and G tires?

At 6 years you would want to replace your trailer tires as that is the max age we recommend for tires even if they are still in good shape.

In your tire size of 235/85R16 I would recommend you go with a # TTWPRG235R16 as this is a Load Range G, but what I really like about the radial Taskmaster tires like this is that they are rated for higher speeds. Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 miles per hour which most end up exceeding and these are rated for 81 mph.
