Fit Info For Installing Sportrack Roof Rack on a 1996 Subaru Legacy
Question:
I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy sedan LSI 4 door. The info on the sportrack says that it will fit my car. My question is where does the clip that holds it to the car go ? It has a weather strip on the edge of the roof and the window glass fits under the weather strip. Do I remove the weather strip to install or what ? I am interested in buying the rack, but want to be sure it fits before ordering. thanks for any help you can give me.

I show that the correct Sport Rack Roof Rack for you is the # SR1008. In the instructions it lists that your 1996 Subaru Legacy should have the front bar set at 27 and the rear bar set at 25 then the front measurement A=7-3/4 inches and the back bar is B=23-1/2 inches. I've attached an image of the chart for you to see. You would need to install the clip over the weather stripping and the door frame.
I've attached a video of this rack being installed on a similar vehicle so you can see how it mounts for your convenience.
