Recommended Weight Distribution System For 2016 Ford F-150 Supercrew

Question:

I need some help determining which WD/sway control set up to buy. Im towing a 7x16 trailer GWVR 7000, Curb 2220, payload 4780, I think will be loaded to 5500# for the trip for our 4000 mile move back to Alaska. I have a 2016 Ford F150 Supercrew 3.5ecoboost with a max tow of 10,400, and a factory hitch that supports max 12,200# and tongue of 1220. Im having a hard time finding max payload for the truck. My assumption is to purchase a WD/Sway control in your 900# segment? The trailer is equipped with electric brakes. I was looking at FA94-00-1000 or C17500. Thoughts? Thanks so much!

The best way to determine which weight distribution system to get is to know the total tongue weight. This would be the tongue weight of your ready-to-tow fully-loaded trailer added to the weight of any cargo placed behind the rear axle of your truck.

If you are towing a trailer weighing 5,500-lbs the tongue weight should be somewhere between 550 and 825 lbs. Add 200 lbs of cargo and you are around 1025-lbs of tongue weight. I would recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System, part # FA92-00-1200. This has a weight capacity of 1,200-lbs and also features sway control to help keep the trailer steady in high winds and when passing big trucks on the highway.

The hitch ball is not included but can be purchased separately. I recommend part # EQ91-00-6120.
