Can Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier Carry 2 Kayaks On 2012 Honda Ridgeline
Question:
Hi, I recently purchased a pair of Field and Stream Eagle Run 120 Fishing Kayaks. They are 12foot long and 30inch wide. I am looking at the DTA944-968-924 racking system to install the two kayaks side by side. Will this product support this application? Also what is the Rooftop crossbar and how does it attached to the roof of the Ridgeline? Finally, how many Darby Accessories and Parts - DTA924 would I need for this application?

The Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier, part # DTA944-968-924 has foam blocks that support the crossbar and use a strap that runs through the interior of the truck cab. This system has a 350-lb weight capacity but you will need to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity on your Ridgeline.
The crossbar for the roof included with this system can be extended from 45 to 60 inches wide, and the crossbar on the extension is 48 inches wide. That may pose a problem with 2 kayaks that are 30-inches wide each.
The DTA924 foam block measures 18 inches long and 5 inches wide, but it is no longer available. There is one included with this system. To obtain a second, you could use the 24" Malone Foam block # MPG172. It could be cut down if needed.
