Troubleshooting Installation of Tekonsha Voyager on 2007 Chevrolet Suburban
Question:
I hard wired the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller to my 2007 suburban according to your video but it is not working. i know the brakes are good because i just had them looked at on Saturday. I am wondering about your Note: If a custom brake-control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, one of the following will be required: 20-Amp circuit breaker 9506P - sold separately for 2- to 4-brake applications 30-Amp circuit breaker 38630 - sold separately for 6- to 8-brake applications Could this be the reason it is not working and do you have a video or instructions on where to install the circuit breaker? thanks!

You will not need to use a circuit breaker to install the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 on your 2007 Chevrolet Suburban. Since the wires are pre-ran for the brake controller, GM has installed the necessary circuit breaker/fuse. We can go back over the installation to ensure that all of the wires were connected properly.
To hardwire install this controller, you will need to make the proper connections under the dash as well as connect the battery charge wire and brake control wires at the engine compartment fuse box.
Under the dash, once you have located the pre-ran wires to install the brake controller you will want to connect the red/black wire to the black wire on the # 20127 wiring pigtail, the white factory wire will connect to the white pigtail wire, the light blue/white wire will connect to the red wire on the brake controller pigtail, and the dark blue wire will connect to the blue pigtail wire.
The battery charge wire and the brake control wire have pre-installed ring terminals that are sized according to which stud they need to be installed on at the fuse box. The brake control wire is tucked away between the fuse box and the side of the vehicle. The battery charge wire is located on the other side of the fuse box. We have found it to be very common that GM ran these wires but did not make this connection.
I have attached a help article on installing a brake controller on your Suburban, as well as an installation video of the Voyager on a similar vehicle as yours that shows all of these connections being made.
If you determine that the controller is properly installed, feel free to let me know some of the specifics as to what is not working and I will be happy to provide further troubleshooting steps for you.
