Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller that Has Power on Brakes all the Time

I have power to my trailer brakes all the time. I can cut the power by moving the power adjuster to the lowest braking position controller does not work on the peddle. no indicator light unless I slide the power setting

Sounds like the red wire of your brake controller is shorting out to a 12 volt source which is telling the controller that your vehicle brakes are being applied and the trailer brakes need to be applied.

Check the condition of the connections on the red wire of the controller. Most likely you will see exposed wire contacting the black wire of the controller. Fix as necessary and the controller should start working again.
