Do You Have To Trim The Bumper On A 2011 Audi Q5 When Installing The Curt Class II Hitch, # C13136
Question:
Do you have to cut into the bumper to make the hitch work in a Q5?

There is no trimming on the bumper when installing the Curt Class II Hitch, # C13136, on your 2011 Audi Q5. The only trimming is to the heat shields that are located above the exhaust on the drivers and passenger side. The exhaust is lowered on both sides and the heat shields are removed and an area about 4 inches X 2-1/2 inches is cut out of the heat shield to allow clearance of installing the hitch to the vehicle frame.
The estimated installation time that the manufacturer suggests is 2 hours by a professional installer, so if you have average mechanical skills and a friend to help, it would be around 4 to 6 hours.
I am sending a link to the installation instructions on the Curt hitch, which shows great color pictures of the installation and exactly where to trim the heat shields.
If you will be towing, you will need the Curt Ball Mount, # C45010, and the Pin and Clip, # PC3. You will also need a hitch ball. The recommended hitch ball is the Tow Ready 2 inch Hitch Ball, # 19247.
The wiring harness needed for towing is the Tow Ready Wiring Harness, # 119176KIT.
