No Trailer Lights Working when using the Pollak Wiring Harness on a 2002 Ford F250 Super Duty

Question:

I bought your harness for my 2002 F250 and when I plugged it in, my existing 7 pin is no longer functioning properly and I can only get power on the red lead with key on and the blue lead electric Brake and nothing else. Any Suggestions?

The correct Fifth-Wheel and Gooseneck wiring harness for the 2002 Ford F250 is the Fifth Wheel / Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Wiring Harness - 2002-04 Ford Super Duty, item # PK11893-11932, that you have purchased.

You will need to do some troubleshooting to determine the cause of the problem. Use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, to test the connector on the forward side of the connection point that this harness plugs into. If you have all of the correct functions at the connector on the vehicle, all of the functions should transfer through to the # 30166 harness and to the original 7-Way. If they do not the harness is most likely not the correct harness or is bad.

If the functions are not at this connector you will need to check the tow package fuses under the hood on your truck. These fuses are separate from the vehicle turn/brake and tail light fuses and are labeled as tow package or trailer lighting fuses. If these fuses have been blown they will need to be replaced. Once replaced the harness should function properly.

If the harness will not function properly and when you plug the original harness back together the 7-Way at the rear of the vehicle is working, there is another option that will work on your 2002 F-250 Super Duty. The Curt 5th Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness item # C56000, will plug inline with the 1-1/2 inch round connector that plugs in at the back of the 7-Way connector at the rear of the vehicle. This plug is located at the end of the drivers side frame rail behind the rear bumper.

Finally, if your truck does not have the 1.5 inch round connector mentioned above and none of the other suggestions here have worked, your truck is most likely not setup with the factory tow package and you will need to hard wire a connector in the bed of your truck. The item needed for this application would be the 7-Way Pre-Wired Connector, 7 foot Lead, item # 20024.
