It looks like you did your research. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 Brake Controller for your 2001 Dodge Ram Pickup. This is a popular brake controller because it is easy to use and easy to install. It also has a custom LCD screen and lets the user store up to 5 settings to customize your controller for varying loads or different trailers.
Next you will need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3020-P. This is a 4-way trailer connector and plugs directly into existing wiring. This Wiring Harness will fit with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller and your truck.
To easily install your brake controller our Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Break Controllers # ETBC7 has everything else you need. I have attached a video of the installation of this kit on a 1999 Dodge Ram Pickup which is the same installation process as your 2001 Dodge Ram Pickup.
I attached an installation video for the T-One Vehicle Harness for a 2001 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck you may want to check out.
