What are the Differenced Between the Prodigy and P2 Brake Controllers
Question:
I have an older prodigy that I took from my old truck... is that basically the same as the p2 or should I look to upgrade...I will be towing a 4000 camper with a 2004 trailblazer

The older Prodigy part # 90185 is very similar to the P2 part # 90885. There are a few differences between the original Prodigy and the Prodigy P2, with the main differences being that the P2 can be mounted at any angle, as long as it is level sided to side and pointed parallel to the direction of travel. The mounting options of the original Prodigy are more limited, between level and 70 degrees up. (click on provided install links for more information). The Prodigy P2 is also compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes, while the original Prodigy was not.
In all other respects, the controllers will operate identically.
Oh, and the color on the display is blue on the P2 and red on the Prodigy.
If I were you I would probably stick with your Prodigy unless you need to tow a trailer with EOH brakes or need to fit the controller in a tight location.
