Troubleshooting Ground Error Message on Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

Question:

I just installed your Tekonsta Prodigy P3 in my 2002 Chevy truck 1500. I just got the trucked wired from a 4 pin to a 7 pin. New camper has electric brakes. I had a Tompson brake contoller that just didnt work easy. Well I installed the Prodigy yesterday and its reading in red Warning no brakes grounding issue. I see the white took up that I think is the ground. The Prodigy is giving me all the other information it should but keeps showing this warning. Now keep in mind I have not tooled up the camper or plunged in the camper to the truck yet.

The open ground error that the P3 is displaying means that it has lost its ground connection to the vehicle battery. That means the issue is on the white wire like you suspected.

What you would want to do is make sure this wire is making a solid connection or even run a jumper wire from the ground wire directly to the ground of the vehicle battery to see if that fixes the problem.

what if all the trailer lights are still working. Could this still be a ground problem?

A brake controller's wiring doesn't have any effect on the trailer light circuits, so you can definitely have all the lights working but still have an issue with the controller's ground. Make sure the white wire coming from the controller is securely attached. If you have a plug-in harness, make sure it's fully seated and there aren't any bent pins on the plugs themselves.
