How to Pick Out a Weight Distribution System for a V-Nose Utility Trailer
Question:
Hi Guys, I have an enclosed trailer that halls 7000 Gross but I mostly use it to tow atvs and motorcycles so it does not see its full potential much. At 7x16 v nose she may have two motorcycles and two atvs so stretching that would be a payload of 1800lbs But I also have a fourth atv at 500lbs that sits in the bed, depending how it sits in the6.5 ft bed im sure the hitch is picking up a good potion of that THanks so much I could figure this out for the life of me!

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.
Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup.
Since your trailer is a V-nose you will need to go with bolt-on style frame brackets instead of the clamp on that come with the systems. For that you would want the part # RP58305. I attached a picture that shows how they install and allow frame clearance.
