Weight Distribution Solution for A-Frame Trailer with Side Mounted Jack

Question:

I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey pulling a 2003 Coleman Cheyenne. I recently installed a Curt Class III hitch I bought from you guys. It has a max tongue rating with WD of 500 lbs. The trailer has a sway control already installed and a side mount tongue jack. Im positive Ill need a WD system. My question is, with this set up, which one? I dont necessarily need one with sway control since thats already on the trailer. But Im not certain which one to order that will fit with the side mount tongue jack. The side mount jack is 19 inches from the center of the ball receiver. The closest edge of the sway bar mounting plate is 21 inches from the center of the ball receiver, while the sway bar itself is 23 1/4 inches in total length. Will this system, #RP66082, work or is there another less expensive one that would work just as well? Im talking those in the $200-$300 range. Thanks!

Your picture is a bit grainy so I couldn't tell for sure, but if there is a hole in the center of the a-frame for mounting a jack you are going to want to install a jack there and remove your side mount jack. The part # BD155300 has a wheel caster like your current jack does as well.

With the jack off of the side of the trailer you would have clearance to install a WD system.

Since you already have sway control the Reese Trunnion system part # RP66540 would be a great choice for a tongue weight up to 500 lbs.. But in case you don't have clearance above your trailer frame for the brackets you would need to use bolt on brackets like part # RP58305 as it looks like your box may interfere. The spring bars will be right at 30 inches long measured from the center of the coupler ball.
