How to Find Stoplight Switch Circuit for Installing Brake Controller in a 2015 Kia Sportage
Question:
I have this new controller all installed and ready to go, except for the red wire which is still looking for a home. My vehicle is a 2015 Kia Sportage EX AWD. I havent been able to find anywhere a description of which of the four wires from the brake switch I am to tap into to tie in the red wire. Ive tried using a voltmeter to confirm which is the pedal activated lead, but cant get a definitive reading. There is no obvious ie red choice, instead I have white, blue, blue or blue/orange as options. The only wiring diagram Ive been able to find would seem to suggest the blue/orange is the right one, but Im hoping you can help so I can finish this install.

It sounds like you may have found the correct circuit already to install your brake controller in your 2013 Kia Sportage. The wire you tested near the brake pedal that sees voltage only when the brakes are applied would be the correct one.
We don't have access to vehicle specific wiring colors, and even if we did we have found that the wire colors tend to vary from vehicle to vehicle for no apparent reason so we have to recommend that everyone test to determine the correct circuit.
