Tow Bar Wiring Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-150 with Backup Sensors in Taillights

Question:

I have a customer with a 2016 F-150 with the sensor taillights, what options do I have for flat towing lights? I would prefer to use diodes and factory lights. Thanks!

You can certainly use diodes, as you referenced, to install towed vehicle wiring on your customer's vehicle. To wire the 2016 Ford F-150 with the back-up sensors in the taillights I recommend using a Roadmaster Diode Kit, like the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 4-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15247. I confirmed with my contact at Roadmaster that the diode kits will not interfere with the sensors in the taillights.

This kit includes the 4 diodes needed to wire the taillights for use while flat towing. Also included are the wiring, 4-Way vehicle side connector, and wiring extension to connect the vehicle wiring to the 7-Way on the motorhome.

Other diode kit options are the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexco-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267, which will provide you with a 6-Way connector at the front of the vehicle instead of a 4-Way connector, and the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152, which does not include any connectors or wiring extensions, simply the wires and diodes needed.
