Weight Distribution System/Suspension Enhance Recommendation for a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500

Question:

Ropadmaster Active suspension I Have a 2014 Chevrolet 1500 4x4 Crew Cab with 6.6 bed. I have purchased a Keystone 285th wheel camper. The hitch weight is 1350#. Is the Roadmaster system going to help with the sag from the weight or do I need to go with airbags to improve the ride and keep the rear more level. Thanks,

The RAS system part # RAS4611 would provide your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 with suspension support to help level it while you are towing, but I have a much better option for you to consider if your trailer happens to be a bumper pull trailer.

If you have a fifth wheel trailer then the RAS would be the perfect choice.

A weight distribution system will level your truck as well, but since it does this by distributing some of the tongue weight of the trailer up to the front axle of the truck you will end up with also having your handling and braking performance increased.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

The Strait Line system part # RP66130 would be perfect as it has a tongue weight limit of up to 1,500 lbs and features the only sway control designed to help fight sway before it stars.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286. For a shank you would then want the part # RP54970.
