Trailer Wiring Solution for a 2014 BMW M235i

Question:

2014 BMW M235i. I installed a trailer hitch on this vehicle to pull a very light trailer. It is not rated to pull a trailer and therefore has no plug and play harnesses available so I used an old 5 wire to 4 wire harness that I had in my garage to wire up my car. I get good signals with my multi-meter out of the end of the cars harness for all functions but things go haywire when I connect the brand new trailer which by the way works fine with other vehicles. The dealership says they cant do it but someone on the BMW forum says they used your 119147 harness on their M235i and it works perfectly. I dont know about the brains inside your module but I do know I had no power wire going to the battery with the harness. Might that be the difference and do you think the 119147 will work with my vehicle? Thanks!

For vehicles that don't have trailer wiring fits listed for them the best option we have is actually the ZCI # 119250KIT which doesn't require any hardwiring and uses sensors in the connectors of the wires instead of splices. You would need to run a power wire up to the positive post of your vehicle battery and this would work well for you.
