How to Activate 7-Way Auxiliary Power Circuit on 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

I purchased and installed the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Install 7-Way Trailer Connector on my 2004 Jeep Wrangler, which had the factory tow package connector. I cant get 12v on the Auxiliary pin, I need this to charge my camper batteries....any ideas? Cant seem to find a fuse or wiring diagram to save my life..... any help would be appreciated, otherwise, I may need to use the 4 pin converter and add a hot line. I dont need a pin for electric brakes at this point.

When checking fuses, did you check the fuse box under the hood, as well? There are fuses in the power distribution box, the lid of the box provides a diagram showing which fuse protects which circuit. I'd look for a circuit marked Trailer Charge or Trailer Auxiliary Power, and replace the fuse if it's missing or blown.

Due to the distance between the alternator on the Wrangler and the trailer battery, the size of the alternator and the small wire gauge, the auxiliary circuit from the 7-way won't have enough power to charge a battery. It'll maintain a charged battery, but it won't recharge a dead battery. For recharging a battery once its dead, you'll need shore power and a battery charger like the CTEK # CTEK56353.

Please get right back with me if you don't find a fuse under the hood, and we'll check some other options.
